Hoping this isn't an Amex denial...

Should I apply elsewhere before they review it or just hold out 14 days? Amexwtf.JPG

Definitely don't apply elsewhere, try calling them about it in a week or something. If your signature is up to date, I can understand Amex's hesitation since you only have a secured card at the moment

I like the name of your jpeg file. Honestly it could go both ways. What's your current profile like? Sometimes, it could just be a mere verification requirement. That happened to me before, but when I called them up, they just needed to verify that it was me. I would call them up and speak to an UW and ask them if there's anything you could clear up for them. Good luck!

Re: Hoping this isn't an Amex denial...

Thanks. I'll give it a week. Or Friday if I'm really impatient.

I changed my signature. I just have a Cap1 Secured which had an auto increase on the 6 month mark. I was hoping that's all I need to get me into Amex since I'm avoiding other major banks for now. I did pre-qualify for the Blue Cash Awards a few months ago but when I tried it this time..it showed me their other cards so that might have been a red flag.

My scores have only gone up though. Not sure on actual numbers but I mean... 7 months with a 3% utilization and multiple payments on my secured so I think I'm good. All my baddies are old charge offs from 10 years ago.

Sounds like you have a thin profile?  What are your FICO8 scores?  What's your utilization like on any one card and across all your cards?

I wouldn't cold app for Amex with a thin profile.  Use their prequalification page in the future.

Wait it out 2 weeks and see what they say.  Call for a recon if you're comfortable doing that, if necessary.

6 mos. is enought time to get in with AMEX, but what is your score currently, specifically your EX Fico score? When I got my first approval for the AMEX BCE, I was on my 6th month as well. But they did need to verify that it was me applying. If your FICO scores are at least 670 and up, I think your odds of getting approved are great. Hoping that you get it.

I had the same verbage before I was approved for my Platinum card about a week later. It means your app is going to be manually reviewed and then they'l make a decision.

Re: Hoping this isn't an Amex denial...

Awesome, thanks Disco. They didn't even tell me I could do that in the email they sent me!

I was told on this forum that Discover Scorecard is a legit ex score.... 765 which seems too ridiculous for me having one card. There is a mistake on my report though showing a card active for a few years that was closed years ago. So now that someone is doing a manual review I might get outted for that and drop. I was hoping to take advantage of the screw upwith more credit before then. lol
