Hey Fordguy, since rumor has it they are discontinuing the BBR, you may consider Applying for a Cash Rewards card. My guess is they won't counter on a product that is rumoured to be discontinued.
If hit try for the Cash Rewards They may counter with the $99/500 semi secured version. In my opinion, this is your best shot at an "in" with BofA.
My Experian score is significantly lower than yours, and they counters with the $99/500.

+1 Agree with grill's recommendation. I certainly understand your frustration, Fordguy. One CO in someone's profile should not be put in the same bad credit basket as, say, someone who has filed a recent BK. You're correct, it's not fair.
But, you want in with BofA, and grill's right about how it may work. Hubby applied in January of this year for the Cash Rewards card (with a 2 1/2 year old BK). Of course, denied. A counteroffer appeared - $99/500. Jumped on it, approved instantly. Worked for pizza1, grill, my hubby and others. Should work for you. ![]()

Applied for BBR again, denied EX 686, for 2013"s citibank charge-off and too many inquiries as usual. Is it possible to recon a hard pull denial and try a secured card? So frustrating. Don't think its fair to have to wait until 2020 to get in with bofa when so many BK filers succeed after a short amount of time.
I think you are incorrect about bankruptcy and Bank of America. I believe they have been described as not bankruptcy friendly. I applied for a secured card after bankruptcy and was denied.

All i got in the the mail was a denial letter. No letter with offer. No email. my question is mainly how to get the offers will they give me something if I call in? How is everyone else getting offers for something that you cannot apply for directly? I dont want to come off as a jerk but I was not looking for support or there there's that I should be offered the card or should have it already I want the path to get it...
That is the path!
1- Apply for Cash Rewards
2- Get Denied
@3- @ BofA's pleasure, THEY will counter if THEY want to.
IDK about calling in and requesting it. It can't hurt to try.
Best wishes to you FordGuy!
BTW I also got denied for the Cash Rewards last year. Aplied again this year, and followed the process above.
Do those of you getting approved have a checking, savings or other relationship with BOA?
Treasure Credit, I have a tainted and semi severed love/hate relationship with BofA.
I had a mortgage with BofA that went south during the Housing Crisis. Prior to that, I had a good relationship spanning ten years prior on which I had business, personal, and savings accounts with them. No credit products at this time.
Post Housing Crisis, I continued my banking relationship with them, maintaining business, personal, and savings. No credit products, no mortgage.
For the next 7+ Years, we hated each other, but would not depart from each other. (think fatal attraction!)
BofA would not extend any credit products, no auto loans, no credit cards, no secured cards, no new mortgages, ( Wells Fargo has my mortgage now).
I decided to end the relationship with BofA and moved all my accounts, business and personal, and savings to a local credit union. I closed about 5 accounts that I had with them.
All except 1 that was a free account. I kept the one free account because I wanted to stick it to them by "using them."
I kept zero money in it. Occasionally using it to "cash" a check and then IMMEDIATELY withdrawing funds.
Such childs play, but it worked. They finally approved me for there $99/500 secured card. I wanted it because I plan on using it as my permanent Costco card.
If things go well in the next 9-12 months, I'm flirting with the idea of returning to BofA as my main banking hub.
Not sure if this account is helping you any, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Best credit wishes to you Treasure Credit!
