I am strategizing closing my starter accounts one by one hopefully in accordance with cli's on my newer cards. In the last 3 months i closed my valero gas card 300, and Big Lots 750. I plan to close Ikea 750 in feb and next ollo 600 in apr or may. right now my savor one and comenity mc havent reported yet, thats 4k of limit.
After ollo I would like to close fingerhut and next i havent decided. All the ones i want to close are zero balance. If i get lucky savor one and comenity should be giving me a cli around apr/may 2022 which will free up room for me to close at least one other account, im thinking fingerhut 1950.
Keepers for me would be - target 500, kohls 1.5k , QS 1.8k, Discover 3k, savor one 3k, Comenity mc 1k.
I may hold on to the following until 2023- Firestone 2.8k, Mercury 3350, Legacy 2k, First Savings Bank 2k, and mission lane 1050

I would not close Ollo. Hang onto it, Ally Bank is taking it over and they should be good with CLI and other features. I would hang onto that one for sure.
One of my personal assistants has the Mission Lane card. She has it before it went to Mission Lane it use to be called Lend Up and she has it since day one. She got one CLI at 6 months to $1500 and that was a few years ago. It appears that you one get one.
I see you closed Big Lots, I wanted that one they are great for their cheap laundry detergent but I was talked out of it on here. To just use a regular card. I never had a Comenity card so it still stands that way
Any card you have that does not carry an AF or monthly fee I would hang onto until you start to get CL's in the $10,000 range. Once that happens then you can close some small ones, but I would not do that now. There is no point.
Thanks
Mark
I just got approved for a penfed sig rewards visa 7500 at 17.99 so at this point i think mission lane is toast, i dont use it anyway it just sits there at zero balance. i think i mentioned to you before that big lots has a rewards card seperate from the credit card that gives discounts.
get the big lots rewards card, its a club and free to join. i closed my big lots credit card but kept the rewards card.
EDIT - PS - I am just decluttering my credit profile by culling out the starter cards. I tend to keep a close eye on all of my accounts so its just extra work for nothing and in a way its exposure to something happening with a card i really dont use or need affecting another card that i have that i really like. If i put a card to bed it cant hurt me from that point on.
I totally understand the view of keeping the no af cards.
I also have the Mission Lane card & received an auto cli of $100 @ around the 7 month mark. It was a surprise as I'd never used the card at that point nor had I physically received it when granted the cli. Long story, I have the card now. Can't speak to the 2nd cli yet.
Congrats on the PenFed approval! At a $7500 sl I can see why ML is toast

Thanks for the congrats.
I wasnt going to apply for that penfed card but then i saw a post from someone who was approved for it 8 months post bk7 with a 630 score, i am 2 years post bk7 with a 682 eq. i was already a member of penfed for 7 months so i gave it a try and prayed as the wheel of death spun. then congradulations and when i saw the sl i almost fell off my chair.
one of the questions on the app was if i was a veteran with an honorable discharge, i think that helped because internet searches say you need an 800 plus score to get that card.

Unless there is no annual fee associated with your ML card I would just close it out. I had mine since 2018, when they were Lend Up at the time, and I received my only increase in 2019 from $500 to $700 with a $39 annual fee. I decided enough was enough this week and closed them out as I believe I was bucketed. Good luck on your continued journey!

Yes my mission lane has a 59 af, considering i just got approved for a penfed pcr 7500 sl 2 percent cb and the mission lane has absolutely no cb or benefits of any kind i would need to see a head shrink to understand why i was keeping it.
During my rebuild I had Mission Lane for 2 years. Heavy usage and PIF and even carried a small balance once in a while to throw them an interest bone, thinking that might also help down the road with CLI's as well as mostly PIF. The entire 2 years I received a total of 1 increase of a measly $100 at the 6 month mark. I called at the end of the 2nd year because my credit is now outstanding as well as all of my DP's (except I'll apply for a card in a minute lol so have like 11/24). They not only refused to give me CLI they also refused to waive the $59 AF so I closed the account and the guy on the other end couldn't have cared less.

I read another post a while back that said they wouldnt waive the af and they were non caring on the phone about closing the card. i was glad to get it when i did during the beginning of my rebuild but now its time to put it to bed. i get rewards cards now and my last 2 cards even had a sub. the mission lane just sits there unused costing me that 59 af for a 1050 cl. my interest rate is still lousy but it has dropped from my initial cards being close to 30 pct to my last card being 17.99 plus2 out of my last 3 cards offered zero bt's.
I am not condemning mission lane, they give people a chance to rebuild without super low cl's and heavy fees, i have just outgrown the card and moved to a higher tier of cards.
I too had one from lend up when you had to be invited , I had no af but in 6 years or so I had it I got the original double cli from 3 to 600 and nothing and they always said they review when eligible . I finally said whatever and told em to close it . They did with out Hassel over secured message . They were fair with me otherwise .
