You don't even have a Fico score if your oldest account is four months old.
You can wait another six months (or longer) if you want unsecured credit lines, or look into secured credit cards.
Yeh seems like your file is too new. I cosign with waiting the 6 months and trying again for unsecured.

@Anonymous Welcome to the boards. I am sorry to hear that you were declined. Unfortunately even with a good score, you can be declined for any card. Your score is only one part of the mix that lenders look at. What was the denial reason? Also did you try using the prequalify tool on the Discover website first?
Also this might be a dumb question, but do you have a Discover card already?
Let me comment...
Ah.. If im reading the thread right... Discover declined you.... You said your Fico was 728... but you also said your credit was only 4 months old..... Fico doesnt generate a score for at least 6 months if theres nothing else scoring..... Where did you get this score? It sounds like an enhanced score used for folks who do not have a Fico score yet... When i first tried applying for a discover they gave me a "enhanced score" which uses alternate data sources... even though the score was great, they only approve on enhanced scores IF your a student... if you do have another credit card thats only 4 months old... its because you arent generating a fico yet, and discover wants some experience with that account history before granting a card.... and because you have one card and its still new, your having new credit/thin credit issues ... you need to wait for that card to age at least 6 months....
If it were me.. id try Discovers Prequals in november or so....
