I was apprved for this card, but i think i made a mistake by applying. Im worried its a store card and ill have to cancel it and waste the inquiry. The card info says it can be used for cash advances from cirrus atm's but there is no mc/v/amex logo on the picture of the card. They dont have any stations in my area so a store card is useless i want to keep it just in case i need a cash advance which is highly unlikely.
the customer service center will open in an hour and a half so i will update then. I think its unethical to call a store card a credit card if thats what they've done /rant
It is a Synchrony card (Had no clue).
Did you apply for the Visa or the regular card? I noticed on the applications page it gives you the option to apply for either one.
If the terms listed that you could get a cash advance I am assuming you possibly got the Visa? I have not known any store cards to offer cash advances.
I would avoid a Cash advance on any Synchrony card I believe the going APR for those is 29.99% at least that is what the cash advance APR on my Marvel card is.
The "cash advance" function was limited to $20 or so back in the day.

You can cash advance on the Chevron store card if your limit is $500 or more. Cash advance lines are 20% of your total credit limit.
OP, if it doesn't specifically say you were approved for the Visa, it's going to be the store card.
20% of your CL being your cash advance limit is for the MasterCard version only. I have the store account ( 9 yers old ) and there is no such cash advance feature on the summary or account services pages
20% of CL being your cash advance limit is common for all the Synchrony bank cards that I have.

Sorry, but this is incorrect information. There is no MasterCard version of the Chevron Texaco card. It's either a store card, or Visa branded. My information about the cash advance feature on the store card is also correct. Before I had the Visa version, I had the store card with a $4,000 limit, and an $800 cash advance line. Here are the FAQ's for the store card version.
Sorry for my delayed response, ive been busier than i anticipated. My card is a store card, but i think i am going to keep it because there is no annual fee and i am eligible for $150 in cash advances. There is no fee from chevron for cash advances as long as i use an atm with a cirrus logo. There is a cirrus atm just down the street from me so this is my best card for cash advances if i ever needed one. Also my aaoa is already low (about 5 months for 4 cards) so i won't notice much of a difference there for the new card.
