Is this a pre-approval?

Been wanting an in with BoA after getting a foot in the door with Citi four months ago. Tried the "pre-approval" website without logging in (I'm not a BoA customer). Got this:

EX FICO 8: 686, 1 late (120) from 3 years ago, 17mo AAoA, 27% Util, 5 inq last year and 7 new accounts last year. Not sure if pre-approval or "offer."

BoA's prequal is only a suggestion. It's not an actual prequal form.

The only way they judge it for those cards is by you applying with a HP.

BoA does do bonafide prequals both online and via mailers. You would be correct that this example however is not a prequal.

Nope not real — Don’t trust boas online pre qualifying tool it doesnt mean anything.
