My only advice is this. My daughter once lived with me as an adult and our credit became entangled. It took ages to get it all worked out with the credit bureaus. So my advice is to check your three cra's regularly to be sure your credit and hers is not entangled in any way. jmho
Have you actually checked her credit scores? If it's been "terrible for a decade" it may be a situation where she had some challenges in the past, maybe oh, say about 7 years ago, and those have fallen off her reports?

I did last night, we'll I did credit karma and she has 2 collections and late payments EVERYWHERE, I'm gonna need your guys help figuring out which ones are affecting her scores and which arent. I know she's late with her car payment almost every month and I told her I can only help her if she is on time EVERYTIME from now on and there's no point in fixing any of this if she's going to keep being late. She just couldn't understand why 90% on time payment rate wasn't considered good. I guess she thinks that should be an A-
You are on the right track. Before you can give anyone any help, they have to be open to their responsibilities regarding credit, and willing to take ownership of their own actions. Even mom.
Regarding the mailing offers, that's probably not related to your credit. If she's got older items that were even worse, and those dropped off (remember that 7 years thing?) then her scores, even at FAKO CK 600, may be improved from 7 years ago, so she could be attracting the interest of Capital One. If she's primarily just got lates, but is paying, then that's an enticing posibility for a bank to make high interest and some fees on the lates.

My mom still writes paper checks and doesn't have a debit card. I've been telling her for ten years to get one.
You can set up autopay for her and then you wouldn't have to worry about it. If she has not changed in all of this time, it might be difficult for her to start now. ![]()
