Hi, this is my first post even though the forums have taught me sooo much about credit.
My question is am I likely to be approved or just denied? I did the Kohls Pre-qualification then I applied and attached that number to my application. Well i got the 7-10 day message. When the letter came in It stated the 3 documents I need to provide. I faxed those over. And got a call about a day or so later asking to resend the backs of my Id and SS Card. Well today someone from customer service told me I needed to reapply because my application was missing info but a few minutes later he told me to wait on a phone call again. Im just soo confused on what to do at this point. And this is alot of hoops to jump through if the application gets denied. Does anyone have advice or have been in a similar situation?
Thanks in Advance.
Why dont you wait and see. If they decline your application they will send you a letter in writing and then you can follow-up. My suggestion is stay put and relax. Let them do their job.

I'm certainly not an expert here, but I do have quite a bit of experience with various lenders... Kohls as you probably already know is backed by Capital One. I have a Kohls, Walmart (also CO), a car loan and now a Platinum with Capital one. Even though, I have had them for several years, when I applied for the Platinum last month, they had me send in proof of income. I sent in the last two pay stubs at that time. They approved me the next day. It may be something that Capital One is starting to do more of. I recently opened another bank acct at a credit union, not too long ago. I had to supply drivers license, social security card, and they called twice to talk to me to verify. They approved it, but it was a lot of extra, I dont usually go through to open accounts. I think with covid and some having money issues, banks may be tightening down on identity theft too.
The most important thing you can do is to NOT reapply for the card at this point. It's OK to call them and ask if there is anything else they need in order to process your current application. Occasionally their left hand doesn't do a good job in keeping track of what their right hand has been doing, so a little cat herding on your part to nudge them along is OK.
I agree with @coldfusion , I wouldn't reapply. If your app is missing info then they can fill in the blanks manually without running your credit unless it's a soft pull.
I had that happen with comenity/Overstock and once I mailed in my documents, they sent me a card with $500 CL. I don't know if Capital One would be similar but it happens quite a bit with some creditors sending letters and then approving.
