Time for me to garden I know. I've gone overboard lately but thought about getting a Lowes card as I'm considering a new riding mower and thought it would be nice to get the 18 months 0% APR. For the heck of it I applied today for the Lowes card and was rejected. I applied and got approved for 4 major cards in the past couple of weeks. I pay everything in full each month and never a late payment in my adult life. There really was no reason to apply for it since one of my new rewards cards are 0% and cashback, which actually is even better. Maybe that will go on my Capital One QS sometime after it arrives.

What reason did they give you?
The young lad on the other end of the phone put me on hold to contact whoever the magician is who looks over the apps, came back on the line a couple of minutes later and said it was denied. I asked and he said it would be in the letter I get in 7 to 10 days. I think I'm going to garden for the summer now. I guess I'm making them all nervous.
Maybe someone can confirm this, if I get a "dear John" letter that credit was denied, I read that I am entitled to a free credit report from whoever they pulled the credit from.

Yes. I do it everytime - a free CR just to check on things. Also my home + car insurance company sends me a letter annually saying my rate wouild have been lower except for what's in my CR, so I pull a free CR on that as well. Aslo free AnnualCreditReport.

The recent apps may be the issue, but still seems odd, assuming all three of your FICO scores are in the 750+ range, to get denied. Call back and give recon another go.
Alternatively, if no good, you could try opening a Home Depot card first. And then call back
Seriously though, regardless, recon again. Good luck ![]()
Did you apply online or in store?
I have been shot down twice online. The last app was declined because of bankruptcy and high utilization. This was before sync gave me increases on three of my accounts that totaled $8900 in new credit. My next plan of attack is to apply in store next april once my bankruptcy is off my reports, util should be near zero by then.

All 3 of my scores are in the mid to upper 700s. Not sure where Discover pulls theirs from, but mine just updated today. I expected it to be much lower than last month when it said I was 803. Today it updated to 807!!
Is there a backdoor number to call for Lowes? I forget what bank it is though.

It was online.
How many new accounts?
I would recon. They pulled TU for me about 2 weeks ago. Instant approval for $500 and I reconned to $5K. Score was 662 and I've opened 6 new cards since Jan.
