Macy's Amex

So I have a question. I've had a Macy's stores account with a $12000 limit for some time. I went into the store and asked about an upgrade to the Amex. They went through the application and said that I was approved (yayyyyy) for an Amex with an $8900 credit limit. I made a purchase on the temporary shopping pass and went on my way. I called customer service to see about getting the same limit as my store card. They said that they could only find the store card. However they said it may just not have hit their system yet as it was earlier the same day. The last four digits are different between the shopping pass and my regular card. And, when I logged into my existing profile online, it's not showing my last purchase (which I know usually shows up instantly). So my question, does it seem like I was approved for he Amex or not?

A lot of things haven't  been showing up correctly for awhile now since the merger.  I used my Plenti Points last week and they never were deducted from my order but deducted from my Plenti account. It was almost a nightmare just to get them back again!

Keep on trying to contact the right department in regards to your Amex approval.  Do you still have the slip of paper from where you applied and was approved in store?

Re: Macy's Amex

Yes I do.  The manager told me that it was an Amex.  I also visted another Macy's, who said the same thing because the last 4 digits on the pass are different than the last 4 digits on my store card.  Basically, customer service (and the store) both said that their systems take a minimum of 24 hours to update with new account informtion, but I want to know if i've gotten the Amex!  It's kind of killing me!  lol.

Re: Macy's Amex

@9cline thanks!  At least I'm hoping it's an Amex, not just a temporary card that's linked to my current macy's account.  The signs seem to say yes, but you know I want to know for sure, lol.  My credit scores are a bit low for an Amex (650's-660's).  Although, the store card has a $12,500 limit (they increased my credit limit 10X over 3 CLI's in the last week) which is outrageously high for a store card, so I'm hoping that they might have cut me a bit of slack and approved me for the Amex since I'm a really good customer (I'm at Macy's 2-3x's a week) and I've never burned them.  The associate at the store basically said that she'd be really suprised if it wasn't an Amex, as she's never seen a store card with that high of a credit limit.  I spend several thousand dollars on my store account every year, so hopefully :-D.  I'm nervous, as this would be my first Amex, and let's face it, carrying an Amex, even an entry level co-branded one, has sonce cache.

The Am Ex card won't show up on the Macy's system. If you call 800-477-2167 9-5 EST M-F that's the Am Ex department and they can confirm your limit.

Re: Macy's Amex

Awesome swampy99. Thanks! Customer service still wasn't seeing it, so I stopped by the store. I stopped by the store when customer service couldn't find the account today, and basically the store said "we're pretty sure you were approved, because the register wouldn't have given you a temporary card otherwise,". Do you think that sounds right? I hoping i was approved. I've been working really hard and getting an Amex would be a big feather in my cap.

Re: Macy's Amex

Thanks. Yeah it didn't yet (which is making me nervous) but apparently (according to their Amex department) it won't reflect until 7-10 days With their new system. So I'm hoping but no one there can seem to give me an answer. Sigh. Frustrating.
