Macy’s card

Hello all!   My current FICO 8 scores range between 646-656.  Just closing on a mortgage this week.  Am looking to open a Macy's card once I close to buy some furniture.
Has anyone had luck with scores like mine?

Re: Macy’s card

The Macy's card is issued by Citi Bank, with  your scores you stand a good chace at getting the store card which is what you want anyway. The American Express will require a higher scores but you never know. I think you should go for it. Let us know the outcome please

Thanks for the post

Mark

Re: Macy’s card

However, in addition to my last reply. Pleae do not apply for any credit card until your mortgage is closed and funded. Sometimes lenders will re run your credit before closing and a new inquiry right before closing is not a good idea

Thanks

Appreciate the reply!   Gives me some hope!   And thanks for the advice about the credit inquiry.   I am not applying for anything until after closing!!

Hi @Anonymous - welcome to the forums.

Congrats on the new home btw!

From just the scores you provided, there have been known to be some approvals, but mainly for the store card and not a very high limit. Just temper expectations since there wasn't a lot of information on your original post as far as how much you plan to spend on furniture nor what your overall credit profile looks like (besides the general FICO scores).

If you do apply, be sure to do in-store to speed things up as far as verification.

Re: Macy’s card

Your scores are good enough to secure a home loan. I have no doubts that you will be approved for a Macys card. Macys is a wonderful card to have. They constantly give you discounts for shopping there, and the card grows fast. Unfortunately though, Macys cards often start with a small credit limit. Possibly too small for purchasing new furniture for your house. I highly recommend the Macys card.
