I attempted to PC to the AMEX and was told it would be a hard pull for that as well as a limit increase. I asked if this was a new policy and they directed me to contact credit customer service. I passed of course. My previous increase was sp as were my new accounts (special event and club). Has anyone else been told recently that it is a hp? What a bummer.
Yes. I was told the same on yesterday when I applied for the upgrade, but from what I've read on here that's a routine CSR spill and it's usually a SP. I haven't received an alert yet to say otherwise.
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!

I recently attempted to PC to the AMEX about two months ago and it wasn't a hard inquiry, it is a soft pull. Based on my experience Macy's soft's my credit report every 3 - 6 months so they are most likely using exisiting information and scoring but none of it is a hard inquiry. Its only hard inquiry if you don't have a Macy's and you are applying out right. I think they say it will be a hard inquiry because if it turns out that it was a hard inquiry then they told the truth. However, based on my experience my request did not result in a hard inquiry.
Hope that helps
thay always say that and 99.9% of the time is a SP
Thanks for sharing, y'all. My reports are frozen so I guess I could always go for it and see what happens!
I recently upgraded to the Amex and they said ti would be a hard pull, however nothing has shown up on my reports from this at this time.
