Just got denied on my Marriott Chase recon. The analyst said I had too many new cards, too many new inquiries, and enough credit from Chase (Freedom and Slate).
I really want this card. Any advice on when I can reapply?

You only have $6K with Chase. While they are saying that you have enough with them, I tend to think that it's just an excuse for other issues. How many inquiries and new accounts do you have?
6K exposure with Chase. Freedom opened in March and Slate in April. Inquiries: EQ 7 TU 4 EX 12 within the last month. New accounts 10 within the last month.

I believe you answered your own question. Let those cards age and try again later.
Got denied yesterday as well.. Gave in and thawed EQ... They also did a sneak (EX hit).. Going to dispute the EX hit through the EO though as the UW/Analyst said it was only a EQ pull as did the letter when I had the freeze on it.. So will get that fixed as they have in the past.... I was sooo close to getting approved on recon, but they said a few main reasons. Amount of new accounts, Chase is my highest lender (not true I pointed out amex) and the main one she said only 4-5 months with Chase if they would of saw 6 months they would of approved it... Oh come on... Anyways, no more Chase apps for a year as they made me mad trying to sneak in a EX pull when the specifically said it was only a EQ pull (they are known to sneak the EX in when they say they won't and have it recorded)
Chase is getting more strick well at least with some.. I am not going to bother reconning anymore as the lady I did it with we talk about 20 minutes and I really think she tried as she put me on hold like 3 different times during different questions, but ultimately a no go
...
Only reason I really went for it as I wanted a hotel card and I had 2 EQ falling off this month and another one next month... Although it wasn't suppose to be a EX hit as stated in the letter or original denial (EQ froozen) I have one EX falling off this month and one next month...Oh I will get that HP EX changed to a SP EX.. Pulling up my old contact at the EO as I write this letter that fixed it for me in the past when they did the exact same thing.. I think their computer program is whacked.
10 EQ/10 EX right atm..
Next CC will be a CU card.. Time to diversify from main stream banks
That's unfortunate. Sorry to hear that. This is one of the reasons why I don't want more Chase cards. I feel complete with what I have now.

Yeah, 10 accounts in a month is a LOT. Not surprised at the decline. You need to wait at least 6 months and then try again.
Thank you all for your feedback. I'll wait six months and reapply.
Letter fired off to my contact at the EO..Here is to hoping my Exp HP gets removed again as she was able to do last time..
OP, didn't mean to hijack the thread, just thought I would share a similiar experience although a bit different.. Either way a denial ![]()
