I received a pre-approval from Merrick bank in the mail today. Basically it says I would receive a $700 line and it would double on 7th statement to $1400. I have 7-10 Visa/Mastercard/Discover cards and this would be my lowest limit. It has an annual fee of $38. I have heard they grow every 3-6 months. I do not NEED this card however it would serve as utilization padding. Should I accept or throw away? I should also mention this would put me over the 6k threshold.

It's a rebuilder card, one of the better rebuilders, but still a rebuilder. You don't need a rebuilder. Toss it.
Shred, burn, eat, wipe your rear end with it.. .anything but apply with it
Merrick was one of my first rebuilding cards 2 years ago as well. I still have for some reason as well. No AF though.

It's not a bad card at all for rebuilding. Sure beats FP or some of the others. However with the OPs scores I see no reason to get a builder card that has no potential to grow with them. That's the only reason I said what I did
Thanks for all the replies. Also small correction it would put me over 60k threshold lol. The card would be used once every 6 months...It would be immediately sock drawed. So I guess there is no point in paying for $700/1400 in credit. My Sony card will have a CLI in two months Ill just wait for that and shred this offer. I just recently acquired a V1 so I am definately out of rebuilder territory.
Now if it was free (no annual fee) I may consider it :/

Throw it away.
like other said, toss it. if you scores were 590-600 id say do it, as its a decent rebuilder. but you dont need it.

I got a no AF Merrick card last month, and still couldn't bring myself to accept it.
My advice is, throw it away like you're playing for Villanova and the buzzer is about to sound.
I would pass on the offer. Insofar, that you do not need the card, its annual fee and your application of use. Utilization padding most often works in the short run, but is not an ideal solution for you in the long run. If your debt increases, are you going to get more cards to manage your utilization?
