Multiple applications

Good morning folks,

Just have quick question that hopefully somebody can answer. I am thinking about applying for 2 cards to be used basically for BT. My question is:  How soon after the first application/approval will a second card issuer see that I have just obtained a card?

Hope this is not a dumb question.

Thanks!

It varies a lot. Sometimes it shows up the next day, sometimes a month or two down the road.

Re: Multiple applications

A new account will be seen once it reports to bureaus. Some creditors do this FAST (Synchrony may take a day or two), some weeks, Amex may take 2-3 months to report

Re: Multiple applications

So, basically you are saying that if I apply for a card and then another card within say 10 minutes, the first application will not show up?

If approved, a new account may show up in a day or two or a month or two.

If applying, a new inquiry or more than one inquiry may show up immediately on the credit bureaus the inquiries were made against.

Different lenders pull different credit bureaus.  Some lenders won't even pull a new inquiry and may rely on a soft pull during the process with a hard pull happening later that day or even a few days later.

If you want less generic advice, post what lenders/cards you're thinking of getting (and maybe what state you live in).

Re: Multiple applications

Chase normally double pulls for me EX and EQ. BoFa pulls EX on new Apps and TU on CLI's.
