I joined NFCU and got approved for my Cash Rewards VS on Oct. 13 of last year. Today I put in for a 90 day CLI--asked to go from the $5K SL to $20K--knowing I probably won't get the full amount but a counter offer if anything at all. It went to 24 hr. review. Is there a possibility I tried just a tad too soon? My score with them just went from 719 to 725 on Jan. 5th so I figured they did their quarterly review and I got a score boost and hopefully that would increase my chances. Also would they HP for that request? If they did I probably wouldn't know for sure until tomorrow anyway. Thoughts or opinions?
EDIT: Approved this morning--went from $5K to $12K. I'm good with that as I was fully expecting a counter anyway + if it was a HP I got something for it! Not sure which bureau was pulled yet if any-will come back and update with more info when I know for sure. MODS: If you'd like please move this to Approvals-Thank you.

You should wait the 90 days plus 3 statements. So you may end up waiting more than 90 days. if you join the main thread, you will find out lots of good tips for cli's and new cards.

Based on what I've read recently on the Navy CLI pipeline, things have definitely changed quite a bit. It appears most folks tend to get approved for a 2nd CC than the CLI, but I definitely don't recommend such strategy unless a 2nd CC is really needed or fits that persons goals/profile. My first card with Navy was approved on 9/11 and just waited it out until 12/23 for the 2nd CC and was approved. I didn't need the CLI on the 1st one.

I probably won't be using the 2nd card strategy-but I have heard about it before. One card from them is all I need and care to have for the time being. Going forward that's what I do with most lenders now--get one card and if I decide to grow it as much as possible. If they don't approve the CLI no biggie-I'll just move the next try up to a later date like sometime in March or April...just hoping this didn't trigger a HP.

It may have triggered the HP already, otherwise if SP you may have seen the CLI right away (at least in most cases)... unless one calls right away and have them cancel the request to avoid the HP. You can always try at the next AR.
It will definitely be a HP with NFCU...and the 24 hours is the standard response and could take longer.
