a 500$ CLOC doesnt seem to me to have any value except with the hope that it'll flip to 15k eventually.
@IodineNightSky, $500 limit has value if you accidentally overdraw your checking by $499.00!
@IodineNightSky wrote:yea, i think like 90% of the people who applied and were approved for a CLOC about two years ago got 15k. i think i got mine with scores in the 620s range. i've actually used it a few times and it's awesome. just write yourself a check from the CLOC account and deposit it to your checking.
Yes I agree 2 years ago 15K was the norm with them it seemed, last several months not so much .

All the answers you can find in this thread
@Jnbmom, That's a Loooooooong road there
I agree and honestly believe the thread has grown beyond usefulness. Without a wiki, it's simply not worth reading 1600 pages to try to decipher a scenario that closely matches whatever you're curious about.
You don't have to read 1600 pages, this thread is very active and referenced daily. You can usually find or post in that thread and receive answers rather quickly. The thread is very useful
First, I do think there is a ton of useful info in the thread. I just think the thread size is significant enough that knowing where current info starts and old, no longer relevant info ends is key to the usefulness of a discussion forum. I'm in the camp that is not typically interested in asking about my circumstances, but rather interested in similar data points (which is one of the core reasons I post - to provide data points others may find helpful). My opinions may be outliers, but I feel the same about threads that have 25 replies where 24 are simply congratulatory comments (which is likely why kudos came to be). Truly though, a wiki would be a huge plus. Nor sure if that's even technically feasible on these boards.
(For certain, even posting that opinion feels like I'm complaining about the sweetness of the icing on a cinnamon roll - it's awesome in general, and it's not made not awesome by having it be too much in one spot... )
Let's not stray too far off of topic here, OP didn't create this thread to discuss the size of the master NFCU applications and CLI thread. Thanks! 🙂

Checking line of credit "CLOC"
You can apply for it anytime. Most people have reported getting $500 unless your active military.
From what I've read Navy use to hand out large amounts of CLOC but the past year they've reined that in.
NFCU dishing out $15K on CLOC was a no brainer for many years up until the Bio Pandemic smacked the economy down.

I joined NFCU towards the beginning of the pandemic and missed out on the 15K CLOC. It was OK though, they've certainly taken care of me since joining.
