Hello!
I just joined NFCU and I'd like to apply for one of their credit cards and see if we can refinance our new auto loan (just purchased last month) to get a better rate. Would applying for a credit card and then an auto loan refinance hurt my chances for approval for either one or should I just stick to one or the other for now?
Does NFCU use the same credit pull as when you open your membership or will it be another HP? Will it be two HPs, one for the CC and one for the auto refinance?
No.. Theyre HP happy. Its a separate HP
Would applying for a credit card hurt my chances of approve if I apply for an auto refinance the same day or the next day? I'd like to get one of their credit cards but the auto refianance is more important to me at the moment, but I need to add my wife to the account and have submitted the paperwork off to do that.

If it were me I would do the most important one first, which is probably your auto refi. Once it's approved, then go for the credit card (it will be a separate HP anyway).
Good luck!
Thank you UncleB! Hopefully it won't take them long to add my wife to the account.

Opening your savings/checking account should not have been a HP.
The rep said they do a pull but I believe you are right; normally I get an alert that an HP has been done and I haven't received one yet.
What is considered their starter card? I don't want to apply for one that will decline be due to my credit not being perfect.

All their cards have the same underwriting except for the Flagship, which requires a minimum $5k credit line. If you're "iffy" apply for anything other than the Flagship (and if you really want the Flagship, you can always PC to it later anyway).
FYI... the Go Rewards is offering a 30k point sign-up bonus right now, which is the same as the Flagship. I picked it up myself just this afternoon. ![]()
