NFCU/PenFed/Barclay

Hello,

I currently have the following:
(Account, Balance, Total Credit)

Discover It - 1190/1200
Amex SPG - 490/2000
Citi Secured - 0/200
My Jewelry Club - 50/5000
Fingerhut - 0/500
Mortgage
3 Secured Shared Loans w/ Local CU

CS: 650 (using WalletHub)
16 total Inquiries across the 3 CRA, 2 in the past four months.
2 medical collections from Sept of 2014.

------

I'm working on my NFCU app right now and soon PenFed.

Which of the NFCU/PenFed cards are easiest to get or may I have the best chance to get?
Id like the Barclay Arrival too but not sure in what order, if at all, I should do the app.

Thanks for any help! (

Nfcu vs penfed !  NFCU Winner!!

Go for the visa cashRewards (they approve more then other with bigger cl)

you can also pc to another card later.

penfed is cheap.stay away.

Re: NFCU/PenFed/Barclay

Cash Rewards is what I was wanting anyway! I will try that first with a PLOC.
If I get denied should I even try PFCU or the Arrival?

Thanks.

Re: NFCU/PenFed/Barclay

You might have an issue with your being maxxed out on your Discover card. Pay it down a little and your chances will double

>7/2025 All 3 reports 830 - 845(F8) F9s = all 850 but my app finger is still twitching

Re: NFCU/PenFed/Barclay

Sorry about the above blank post.

I currently have a 0% APR on the Discover. By Jan 2017 I should be able to get the Amex to 0, Discover to 1000 and the Jewelry to about 20. I also plan to pay all 3 shared loans down to under 9 percent. I plan that these things should give me a good boost as well as hopefully a CLI on Discover later in Jan. I'm going to hopefully get accepted into NFCU in the next two weeks so I will go ahead and take the HP and then app spree in Jan. What are my chances of getting the NFCU Cash Rewards/PLOC, PenFed and Arrival?

NFCU is the first app ill do. What order should I try the other two? Should I?

Re: NFCU/PenFed/Barclay

I would pay that discover down to <$400 immediately and go for credit increase. I know it's under the intro. But it is dinging you by being there. However I have seen lots of nfcu approvals where people are maxed out one 1 card, not several of course. It was a total savior and I applaud that. I want my own serving!

For score purposes only needed one of the security loans. Is there a way to roll them into one?
PenFed does not like new accounts and INQ. I would try them first if you are set on having a relationship with them.

I have voiced my woes about Barclays multiple times. They really don't care about your inquiries and new accounts when youre applying… they will monitor your credit for months and then slam you after your spree is complete. 2cents.

Re: NFCU/PenFed/Barclay

Barclays is worse than sub-prime IMHO. They CLD'd me 8 years ago after my mortgage reported. From what I hear they haven't changed.

In the garden as of 1/4/2017. Will remain for all of 2017.

Barclays is great for someone who doesn't frequent credit card boards and blogs.

Re: NFCU/PenFed/Barclay

I just received a CLI on the Discover right after the 90 day mark; around beginning of November. I had a SL of $1k and requested $2k, was denied but emailed the next day saying I had a $200 CLI. The plan is to request another in February. It has a 0% intro right now, so that is where I would like to keep the balance even if it is dinging the uti.

There is no way to combine the shared loans. However, in just a few weeks I'll plan to pay them all down to extremely low balances as they have long terms between five and 10 years. Would it be best to pay off two of them and keep the other one? If so, which one should I keep: highest starting balance or the one I've had the longest?

Not sure I follow you with Barclay monitoring me a few weeks. After an approval or denial?

I am getting the feeling that I should go ahead and join NFCU and PenFed now, take the hit on the entry HP's, pay down the shared loans under 9 percent, pay my CC down to the amounts I said in my previous post AND THEN spree at the end of next month or Feb?

I really don't understand why all of you hate Barclay? The Arrival seems like a great travel card for the flexibility. Minus trying to get a CLI or their customer service, am I wrong that the rewards program is good?

Thanks everyone!
