NFCU just for CC and not checking acct?

Is it possible to sign up for NFCU without using an HP and getting a checking account, and going just for one CC for one HP?

Nope! To be eligible for any NFCU products, you need to be a member. You don't need to have a checking account with them, but you would need to have at least a share($5) savings account with them. Since that's what you need for membership, it'll take a HP.

I think they do a HP for membership. One more inquiry either way won't make much of a lasting difference though.

So if I just want the CC, I would need to open a checking/savings account? Would that be 2 or 3 HP if I wanted to open the checking acct and CC?

Could i just do 1 HP for membership and the 2nd for CC?

I think my share savings account has had less than a dollar in it. They keep giving me more credit anyway.

To join NFCU, and any credit union, you have to have a Share account. A Share account is what gives you your share of the credit union- a Share account is a savings account. NFCU will pull a hard inquiry to join the credit union and another to open the credit card or any other credit product.

A relationship with NFCU is well worth a couple of HP's.  If you time your CLI requests with the SP's you can get CLI's without an HP so it will cost you an  HP or two to get established and then your in pretty good shape.  If you decide to go with CLOC that is a seperate department so they do their own HP.  In my experience a couple of HP's don't hurt unless your in mortgage underwriing.

I'm in FL and it was a HP to join (required savings account) with TransUnion, then another HP for a credit card app, but that was on Equifax. So at least its more chipping away at a pair than really hurting one report if you're inquiry sensitive right now. However if you decide to join and apply for the card, you can use that same EQ pull to also apply for a CLOC. most who experience good results on the card application tend to get approved for the CLOC (up to $15,000).

i mention i'm in FL because sometimes the pulls and bureaus are different based on your address. if you're going to take the HP hits, maximize them! good luck!
