NFCU second card

I applied for NFCU platinum card last April. After recon, I was approved for 1700 CL.  I used the CC often paying in full every month. On 7/15/17 (3 statements, more than 90 days) I pressed the CL increase and it was denied. I also applied for a second card and it was denied as well. Recon was denied. At the time I have all my three midland collections disputed. Back to today, rwo of the three collections are gone, score is up (663 eq,  636 tu) and still disputing the third collection.

When should I asked for anow increase again? Should I wait 90 days from my last one or this is only the first time? Please help.

NFCU Platinum $1700.00; Capital One Platinum $300.00; Discover (secure) $200.00; Bank One $300.00 (April 2017)

NFCU Platinum $1700.00; Capital One Quicksilver $1800.00; Discover $2000.00; (March 2019)

Re: NFCU second card

It seems to be their policy now for 6 months for a CLI. Also, on getting a 2nd card...they are harder to get, and usually want to see some history on the first card for awhile.

When I got my 2nd card, I had also applied for a CLI on my first card, and they gave me the choice of an either or....CLI on my 1st card, or open up the Plat card I applied for...I choose the Plat.

Id wait another 3 months and when you've had 6 statements total, and then decide what you want more....a CLI or your 1st card, or a 2nd card. Then app for which one you want.

6 months for a CLI now. That's a huge bummer.

Re: NFCU second card

@FA21 I applied for a CLI on my GoRewards a few days after 90 and after three statements cut, and I was given an instant $7k increase to $18,600. I applied for a second card, which went to 24 hour review, but was approved for a $15k SL. I didn't really use the GoRewards for much, and was kind of surprised at my results. I will try to time my second card's CLI to right after the AR in January, which will be almost 4 months since opening. Good luck!

Re: NFCU second card

I’m not sure if them making you wait for 6 months is necessarily true because I also got my first CLI with them at the beginning of September after 90 days/3 statements.

Not sure if they have given you the direct answer to why you were denied but if it comes back as the card being too new. Then give it another week and try again! I pulled the trigger early and got that response and then waited and got my approval on my first CC.

I applied for the 2nd CC but they stated the first account was too new. Which was weird to me but I waited 2 weeks and then got approved for the new Amex card they have now.

Also, I got the full $15k CLOC when I got approved for the CLI on the first CC.

It seems some people have better luck at the 90 days and some need to wait just a tad bit longer.

Did you get the HP when I applied for that CLI? If you didn’t, then I bet you’ll get the letter just saying the account is too new.
