Happy especially as Discover and Citi just rejected first CLI increases (and Amex and C1 have been freezing me out on CLIs forever).
I'm wondering if this CLI and relatively healthy CL means that I would have good chances at a high SL with a second NFCU card if I were to apply now?
Not necessarily, @tricklemoo. We'd have to know more about your profile. Some members have gotten that high CL on their first card. Others don't get it on their second. Sometimes, there are even denials. NFCU approved me for card one at $10K when I had been multiple new accounts, which is lower in comparison to some of my other cards at that time. About eight months later, and after getting a CLI on that card, they denied my application for a new card even though my FICO and NFCU internal score were high.
So you'd need to consider your FICOs, derogs, recent credit-seeking, inquiries, debt-to-income, and other factors before gauging your odds on a new card.

Probably not. Getting less than the maximum CLI ($8K) suggests you may have hit the maximum amount of credit they're willing to extend you at this time. Give it some time.

I agree with the others . NFCU usually gives the standard 8K nowadays (miss the old days 😞) since you got a 6K increase you are probably at the max right now with them and could possibly get denied a new app . I would certainly give Navy some time to get to know you better .
Discover loves spending for granting CLIs and paying it down , but then again they can be a strange bird .

This is nothing new for me. Every time I ask for an 8k cli on either of my Navy cc's they give me 6k.
I keep a very low util on their cards 10 pct or less but I guess that darned bk7 from 2019 makes them a bit shy. They also wont reduce my interest rates.
But I still think Navy is number 1, 2 years and I have over 30k in limits on 2 cards with them

Thanks guys, I genuinely didn't think about the fact that anything less than the max CLI might mean I've hit the total overall credit they are willing to lend me right now. As I've heard cases of CLIs being denied by companies then the next day they approve a new card to same profile. But in Navy's case I can see how them not giving the full 8k here is a big of an orange or red flag in terms of going for the second card.
Navy has been getting to know me over a year in terms of deposit/savings/certificate of deposit. With the cc itself, I've had it 8 months and this was the first CLI I requested.

Interesting. Do they tend to just do either 8k or 6k then, or is it just a conincidence our DPs match?
I don't have any bks, or negatives within last 6 years but I do have two pesky small balance COs from 2017 that were settled in 2019. I think Navy is using EQ9 though that 'doesn't count' settled charge offs? I mean, not that my EQ9 score is great- its 690 whereas my EX8 is 720. Even though everything reported the exact same. I've thought that if EQ9 is truly ignoring settled chargeoffs, my score would be much higher...
Can I ask you in those 2 years you got to 30k, what was your journey, ie what was the SL of your first card, when did you first get a CLI on it, what point did you get the 2nd one, and how often have you asked for CLIs?

Sure I dont mind sharing some info. On december 25th 2021 i applied for the NFCU cash rewards card 3700 sl at 16.99
On 4/10/2022 I requested my first cli on my cash rewards to 11,700 but they countered with 9700 which is a 6k cli, i took it
on the same date i applied for the platinum card and the approved it but only gave me a 1k sl.
then on 7/26/2022 1 i requested an 8k cli on my platinum and they raised it to 3k. a 2k cli
on 11/10/2022 i requested an 8k cli on my cash rewards and they countered with 15,700, a 6k cli
on 12/272022 i asked for an interest rate reduction on my cash rewards and was denied
on 2/27/2023 i asked for a cli on my platinum card, they countered with 9k, a 6k cli
on 6/12/2023 i asked for a 8k cli on my cash rewards and they countered with 21,700, a 6k cli
on 7/5/2023 i requested an interest rate reduction on my platinum card and it was denied
my present interest rate on the cards is , cash rewards 18.00 and platinum 17.99
like i previously mentioned i keep my utility low on the cards , right now i have a zero balance on the platinum and about 3500 on the cash rewards.
i cycle roughly 1100 to 1300 through the cash rewards every month but always pay the current charges and some towards my balance
Hello everyone, it's been a few months since I have been on MyFico but wanted to share this. I asked for a CLI on my CashRewards card (Waited 182/days) and was instantly approved. Went from $6k > $14k. I love NFCU.
Hi guys quick question after a nsecured card graduates to cashrewards how long do you wait before requesting a CLI is it the 91/3 rule OR 6 month/6 statements? Just looking for some clarity.

Depending on your profile and if you have applied for a second card... Many have found that the best move first thing after graduation is to apply for that second card. It all depends on profile but applying for the second card and then going for the CLI on the graduated card may be the best move.
