Hello all. I am in the process of joining NFCU thru NLSD. I am interested in their CC obviously, but I am concerned about the way they treat there customers. I have been reading as much negative material as good. Should I stick with the credit products and stay away from the other accounts they offer i.e. checking and saving. I know you have to have a saving account open.

From a service standpoint NFCU is really top-notch. The reps are super friendly and always willing to help. Where they fall down is from a technology standpoint. Cash deposits at my local shared brach take 3-5 days to clear...yes, you read that right, CASH. Similar timeframe for interbank transfers, and I can forget using their site to do the transfer - I always have to push/pull from the other bank/CU
So I should start payment on a credit card way in advance?lol

Depends. They'll honor the date you process the transaction for purposes of determining if you're late or not...but if you need to use the available credit? better plan ahead.
I actually love the credit union I'm with now! They are only in Alaska unfortunately so if I were to move back to Texas I'd need to change primary accounts. That is why I asked . Thanks for the info.

There's nothing special about NFCU apart from giving high CLs to people with average credit. Which is fine, it's nice that there's an option.
Most local CUs offer better checking and savings products anyway.
+1. I'm a member of NFCU but once I took a double HP hit just to become a member, and then found out through the forum that they HP for EVEYRTHING regardless of timing (even seconds apart from a previous app) I decided wasn't going to waste anymore HP's with them. I do appreciate the fact that they help a lot of folks with less than stellar credit as I was once floating in that boat myself. But like it was mentioned above, they don't offer anything that you couldn't get elsewhere with adequate credit.

I've been with them a few months. Customer service seems above average. Also web site and versatility of online functions is way above average.

I have been a member for a couple of months. I have both a checking and savings account with them, as well as a CashRewards card. I really haven't used either the checking or savings account that much, as another CU is my primary banking hub.
However, I do use my CashRewards cc quite a bit. I haven't noticed too much of an issue with my payments posting to my account. I believe it's like a day or so for me. I do a pull from my other CU to make my credit card payments.
Also, the few times I have called in with questions, I have had great service.
I really like them. And I am glad I became a member.
