The 3rd statement just cut on my 2nd Navy Card. I started with a cashRewards, and was most recently approved for the Platinum card. The Platinum was an instant approval for 25k. My cards have gotten heavy usage, but I typically PIF each month.
It seems as if 2nd cards are nearly automatic after the 3rd statement for most folks that manage their cards well. Is the 3rd card challenging to get, or is the trifecta not too tough to accomplish? I'd love to get some feedback. Debating if I should submit an app for the Flagship or just request a CLI.
All feedback welcome! Thanks!
I suppose it depends on how soon you want to achieve that goal. I have 3 cards with them and I spread the joy over a period of 6 months. This was my sequence with a sprinkle of CLIs in between (I'm at the max exposure of $80K across all 3):
9/11/17 - GO Rewards
12/23/17 - More Rewards
3/24/18 - Flagship
Thanks for your feedback @FinStar
I received my second card (Platinum) about 4 months after my first card (cashRewards). So now that my 3rd statement has cut for my most recent card (Platinum), I'm at about the 7 month mark. To your knowledge, is it common that folks with good profiles get approvals for the 3rd card within a year...or is it challenging for most? I haven't read enough about trifecta results to form much of a conclusion.
You might want to spend a little time searching in the Approvals section while waiting for responses in this thread. There was a time when a NFCU trifecta was kind of a thing and people would announce their successes. Some insights may be gleaned by reading up on previous relevant approvals.
