Need help with a Barclay Credit card

I applied for the Hawaiian Airlines CC via Barclay Card, I received a Delcine letter that reads :

- Too Many new accounts opened

- The number of bankcards opened within the last 24 months

TU 727

So here is my question, is it worth calling the back number or is Barclay has similar rules to Chase of 5/24.

Thank You all in advance.

They don't like accounts opened within the 6 months leading to them. As for a rule, don't know. Thought they had a 6/24 rule, but not sure.

Re: Need help with a Barclay Credit card

Barclays used to be the easiest, IMO, to recon. But, like everyone else...they've tightened up a bit. I would definitely still try since you've already taken the hard pull.
Good luck!

Any of the 2 listed for credit analyst UW.

Unfortunately, as mentioned upthread, it is unlikely that the decision would be overturned. They've become quite more strict with a variety of their CCs, especially when they're citing a 24 month period as part of the reasoning.

Re: Need help with a Barclay Credit card

Being declined for the same reason a year ago, has definitely out Barclays in that same bin as Chase. "Maybe someday"

I too was interested in this card until I found out it was through them, so I had to move on. They actually have a few cards i wouldn't mind having as I fly American and Hawaiian.

Re: Need help with a Barclay Credit card

Yes, it's worth it. I reconned after reading on this board how they're normally good with customers who want to recon. I only applied for the Apple card, though, bc I read here that this is the card that's easiest to get. My score was about 100 points lower than yours and I had delinquencies from 3 yrs ago. They also questioned why I only got credit cards 2 or 3 years ago. They approved me for $1,000. My point is that if they approved me with delinquencies and a score around 100 points lower than yours, I think that it would be silly to decline you just bc you opened new accounts. They still may decline you, but it's absolutely worth reconning. The worst that they can tell you is no again. Ask if you can get the Apple card or another card instead if you just want your foot in the door with them.

@cr101, how long ago did you try the reconsideration route with them?   It appears as of late, more so within the past 6-8 months, they have tightened their UW.  They used to be more flexible with reconsiderations, but not so anymore.

Another item to keep in mind, they will not switch to any other product than the one the OP originally applied for.  So, the Apple Rewards card is not an option, unfortunately.

@PointsBonus, did you get any positive results from the reconsideration?

2-3 weeks ago. i'm finding out the hard way about the product change. i got a few reps to say that i could do it after they see my payment history, but i don't think that they will. i'm over it. i've gotten better cards since then.
