New Amex Gold Card -- Apply?

I am interested in applying for the new Amex Gold Card that came out today. My question is, are you more or less likely to be approved for a newly released card? I would assume more people would be applying since it is new, and I was curious if this affects approval odds?

I am thinking of applying (avg credit score between all bureaus is 668, AaoA = 7 years, HI in last 12 months = 3) but was wondering the affect of a new card. I did not show any prequalifications, but have also never applied for an Amex card. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Actually the card isn't new.  The original 'charge' card has been updated.  You can go to AMEX pre-qualifications.  It won't effect your scores.

I see, thank you. If it is showing that I am not pre-qualified would there still be a chance that I could be approved. Credit Seasame said "Excellent approval odds" for that card, but I know they are not always accurate. Thank you

You're right about Credit Seasame.  The AMEX Gold is a charge card not a credit card.  I've read that the underwriting criteria is not as strict with charge cards.  Nothing ventured nothing gained.......

If you decide to apply, others have used an incognito window and received the 50K SUM offer!

It's a window in Chrome (all browsers have a form of it) that allows you to browse the web in private.

The charge cards are easier than the revolvers and also a great way to get in with AMEX. You should not have a problem with an approval with your data points.

Also, the 50,000 is worth it !

Re: New Amex Gold Card -- Apply?

I logged in this morning after reading about this 'new' gold card (the rose gold I guess).  Went to cards, apply, selected it, and was informed I was preapproved.  So I clicked the button, got my new card number/CID/exp date and now will wait for it to arrive.  I can only assume its because Ive been BCE for about 18 months and my scores are all at 800 or higher now.

Once you see that you are preapproved do you exit the regular browser and go to an incognito browser to get the higher 50k sign up bonus?
