I went into my local branch to see if I was pre-approved for the CSR. Unfortunately I was not pre-approved for the CSR... but I was pre-approved for the Slate and Sapphire Preferred which kind of surprised me since I'm WAY over the 5/24 threshold..... somewhere in the range of 12/24.
I could use the Slate for the 0% BT....My question is... how solid are Chase preapprovals done in the branch?
I was previously approved for the Slate in April 2016 (CL $500 - sad I know) and PC'd the card to the FU in June 2016. I've been using it and PIF every month. I was approved earlier this month for the Ritz and the Hyatt... both with SCL of $8.5k.

Good questions GDanzy
All chase pre-approvals over the years have been pretty solid
However since 5/24 nothing is guaranteed anymore
So its a chance you take knowing your outside of Chase's rules by moving forward with the app
Lately I've seen approvals in branch based on pre-approvals of people beyond 5/24 and on the other hand I've seen people under the threshold denied
Good luck should you apply I'll be pulling for you because you have a need for the product at this time
5/24 policy isn't ironclad. If a pre-approval is appearing, odds are good you'd be approved. Will cost a HP, but for one with a decent credit profile, the hit is usually minimal; HPs aren't forever. If it's a card you'd really like to have, go for it.

Wonder if you would get approved using the online application (with recon if needed)? For myself. I have never been pre-approved so I have had to just take the risk.
Good question. I'm too chicken to do it online. When I use the Chase pre-qualify online nothing shows up so I feel it may be an instant denial.
