Hello MyFICO Community,
I hope this post finds you well. I recently applied for a Nordstrom credit card and received a denial letter stating that my application was rejected due to bankruptcy. I'm reaching out to this knowledgeable and supportive community for advice and insights on how to proceed.
Here's a bit of background information:
Bankruptcy Details: Yes, I did go through a bankruptcy in the past ( discharge 07/2021), and I understand that this can have a significant impact on my credit history. Nordstrom was included in the bk but to my knowledge I did not own a balance and there technically was not a loss.
Nordstrom's Offer for Reevaluation: The denial letter from Nordstrom Card Services mentioned that they are willing to reconsider my application if I provide additional information that may affect their decision. I'm interested in taking advantage of this opportunity if possible. Here is the exact wording from the letter:
"We would be please to revaluate your application upon receipt of any additional information pertinent to your credit history or information that you feel may alter our decision"
I'm wondering if anyone in this community has faced a similar situation with Nordstrom or any other credit card issuer. If so, could you please share your experiences and any advice on how I can improve my chances of getting approved for the Nordstrom credit card or any other credit card in the future?
Specifically, I'd like to know:
I appreciate any guidance, tips, or suggestions that you can provide. My ultimate goal is to rebuild my credit and establish a positive financial foundation.
Thank you in advance for your support and insights!
Best regards, Odin6
Nordstrom credit cards are issued by TD Bank. Possibly why.

As someone who has applied for the Nordstrom card and was declined for too many recent accounts, I tried to ask for a recon, but they stated that all decisions are completely computer driven and any recon is simply another hard pull to see if anything has changed or been corrected since the last pull.
Given the fact that you didn't include your Nordstrom card in your bankruptcy with a zero, I would definitely do the recon. I would include your payment history and what steps you have taken to prevent another bankruptcy from happening again.
TD Bank has different underwriting requirements for the Nordstrom and Target cards. They don't seem to be as strict with this cards in my opinion.
