There's only one way to find out...OP, are you going to recon again or give up??
Still confused why he wasnt countered for the 99/500 card as many are that have scores in the low 600's..

Is that offered for BBR though? I thought the 99/500 was just a generic secured card with no rewards. OP was trying for BBR, and since you can't PC to BBR, ending up with anything else would be a waste

Could of sworn it was offered on any of their cards, to default to the 99/500 paritally secured card then you could call and ask it to be upgraded to the rewards card(not sure which one).. Never applied for a BofA card, but could of sworn this is what I have read on people getting countered with BofA.. I certainly could be wrong as I am no BofA expert by any means, but for sure knew people got countered with the 99/500, maybe it was applyig for a different BofA card though?

I've heard of it but never with BBR. Maybe with Cash Rewards though, as in getting the secured card and upgrading later. Unless I am wrong, which could be, you can't PC to a BBR, nor can you "upgrade" to it from a basic card, etc. BBR is only gotten through a cold app and that is it.
Also this is not all about score -- OP was trying to fixate on score and saying their TU was higher, etc. This is about the entire profile which BOA is looking at.

Probably the lates didn't jive with them.

Very well could be.. Different banks looks at lates different obviously.. As stated by many it is the whole profile, just not score..
Hi guys, just to answer some questions that have been asked:
1) No, I don't really "need" the card, per se. Really, at least half of people on myFICO have more credit than they need for maximizing FICO for utilization purposes. I have to say though, the rewards structure is really appealing. Plus, I've been looking forward to building a banking relationship with BOA.
2) No doubt about it; I have some really nice cards that I probably don't deserve, and I have been EXTREMELY fortunate with the credit I've been extended. No complaints here. It's just that adding the BBR would be nice.
3) I know the lates look really bad, but from what I have heard from both Chase's and Barclays' credit analysts, they do not weigh late student loan payments quite as heavily as other forms of late payments, because there is sometimes confusion on the part of the borrower about deferments/forebearance on their student loans, which frequently leads to a string of consecutive late payments on them. I was hoping that BOA's credit analysts would have the same opinion.
I have decided I am going to recon it one more time, but I'm trying to decide if I should wait until I get the letter in the mail so I can counter directly what it says in the letter.

Well, they already told you their reasoning so not sure how much difference it makes. If you really feel you can argue with short AAOA, the lates, the inquiries and the scores, then just try. I see no real reason to wait for the letter.
As for your first point -- util is overblown as a whole on these forums, and certainly if approved for BBR I doubt you are getting a large enough limit to really help your util anyway. If you got 500 or 1k, that's really going to make no important difference in your overall util.
The bottom line I think is that most people here are simply trying to say that your expectations may be a bit inflated. There's nothing wrong with recon but you may have to accept that this just isn't in the cards (pun intended) right now. I'd recon one more time to "settle things" in your mind but with the situation being as it is, I wouldn't expect much. You never know though. Good luck.

12 lates is a lot. Doesn't matter if it's student loan lates or credit card lates. Lenders don't overlook that many lates sepecially when you have a number of inquiries, low Aaoa, too many enw accounts and a lower score.
