To put my 2c in:
Cash Rewards opened 4/1/2014 20k starting
Looking at this thread last night, checked EQ saw NFCU SP dated 9/2
Pulled the trigger on CLI to 25k, got the second screen, instant approval
No HP has shown up anywhere yet

@Chilli wrote:Hello everyone,
I've been missing in action for a bit. I've had a productive month so far...
in July (after 4 months) from 500 to 10K - cash rewards
in my last post in August, I had pushed the luv button...cli on both cards of 17.5k. Then I had moved some of my CL from my gorewards to my cash rewards...bringing my cash rewards card to $25,000 and left 10k on my rewards cards.
In September, I pushed the button on my gorewards again and I was counter the original credit increase amout that was already in the system of $17.5.
i also stepped out to grab a barclays card - approved.
got a little cli on my kohls card from 400 to 700😱
Most important, I finally got Citibank to delete their tradeline that was IIB 16 months early.
now the only thing left on my reports are the 13 bankrupty and 1 judgment only on equifax...still fighting them on that.
Oh I forgot to mention, I was visiting NY this past week and tried to use my gorewards card in bestbuy and Navy shut me down real quick...fraud alert...I had to fax my docs to verify my identity. Lesson- next time I will let them know when I am going out of town.
You had a BK discharged 1 year ago and have that much credit with NFCU?! That's amazing! MadTechnologist, see that? There's hope!
Congrats, that's great!
Yeah, tell me about it. Seems my current score may be my biggest setback. Hopefully this plan works and I get a REALLY nice and significant boost to my CS. I just hope that if it does, I don't need an electric fence to keep me in the garden like Creditaddict, lol. I love that quote by the way Creditaddict. I literally and really did laugh aloud when I read it.

Awesome! Congrats on the approval, but from what I've seen on these forums Creditaddict would probably say you should've just asked the the 25K initially and you probably would've been approved. Anyway, I love seeing sucess stories like this as it gives not only myself, but all of us hope and something to aspire too!
I just thought about it nitrov and Creditaddict, do you think I should apply for a cash/go rewards card w/ Navy? I currently have the nRewards, but also wanted a 2nd CC w/ them. And if so, (after my balances are reporting as $0), which do you think is better in your opinion? I like the idea of the 1.5% cash back on the cash rewards, but is there anything that I'm missing as to why I should really consider the go rewards?
@nitrov wrote:
I apped for goRewards purely because of the sign on bonus and plan on PCing in a few months to nRewards or cash. Maybe do the CLI request first then app for a new one so if you get declined you can use some of the CL from the existing to open the 2nd then app CLI again in a few months?
that's not a bad idea for the bonus and navy lets you product change super easy but my end go to navy card would be CASH.

Yeah, that is a good idea. My only issue is that it says the bonus point offer ends on Sept 30th, so that'll be too soon for all my accounts to post as $0. So I'll just app for the Cash Rewards since that's what I wanted anyway. I hope that I not only get it, but get a really nice CL as well! And thanks again for all the help Creditaddict and nitrov, I appreciate you sharing your wisdom and informed opinions with me and everyone else here.
@nitrov @madtechnologist - no, my discharge was not a year ago...it was this year January, 2014...it's been approx. 8 months from discharge.
I got my 1st card- cashrewards for $500 2 months after my discharge...and my 2nd card - gorewards for $2,000 - 4 months after discharge. I was initially declined for both cards but sent secure messages for reconsideration.
After learning from all the posts and CA....I've learned about the luv button on your 3-4 statement and the system matching your CL on your 2nd card.
Since I am still rebuilding, I wanted my credit reports updated with my new CL ASAP. I filed a dispute (credit limit not accurate) with the credit agencies directly and nfcu updated my reports within 48.

Wow, that is amazing! I wish my apps were as successful as yours, but as you can see my scores are sorely lacking. Hopefully I can get them to more respectable levels sooner rather than later and I too can enjoy such success. Anyway, good luck on your credit journey!
@madtechnologist
you will get there...I'm sure of it.
