Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

I think with income proof you could do all at once but sure your strategy sounds perfectly patient😜

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

Relative to NFCU offerings, it also helps to be sure we are calling NFCU products by their correct names to ensure we do not confuse anyone.

NFCU does not offer a PLOC product, although they do offer a CLOC (checking line of credit) product.

We might need to do Official Navy Guide Part 3!:

I think getting a 2nd card is completely different with Navy now than it use to be... Take my friend who got $2900 after review on his first card and before his 2nd statement and after making a couple payments to bring him down to like $1500 from being maxed out and his score going up from 580 range to 615 range he was instantly approved for $6100 on a 2nd card.

So actually unlike in the past of getting high limit and then fall back on moving limit to get your 2nd card, I think you might be better off getting the 2nd card much earlier these days especially if you have seen a big jump in your credit... and by that I mean a jump of 20-40 points probably gets you into a new tier with you.

CA, when you say much earlier, what do you mean? After 6 months with 1st card?

I also think it is interesting that you mentioned your friend was able to get a 2nd card, but was declined for CLI on 1st card.

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

That's interesting to me also Humu but im guessing the difference is bc for CLI im told they use EQ and for new cc it's TU so if there is a big difference in scores I can see how it could happen .

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

Depending what your credit is doing.
I think it's almost easier for the rebuilder credit profile to get a 2nd card within just 1-3 months because most likely the credit profile is changing that quickly.
Someone with a high $20k first card approval might have a harder time getting 2nd card right away

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

You are right about that, CA. NFCU has increased my CL up to 30K on my first card ( went from $1K to $30K within six months, less than a year after chapter 13) and approved me for a CLOC but refuses to give me a second credit card.  I refuse to give up though...lol. I will try again in about three months.

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

My recent experience pretty much points to that fact CA. VERY happy with the first approval but not so happy with the second based on my personal goals.

CA, I don't have a rebuilder credit profile (I'm just a builder here, not a rebuilder, so no negatives in my profile), but would the decision depend more on your EQ vs. TU profile?

I am wondering if that explains why your friend was able to get a new card but not a CLI.

Re: Official NFCU CLI Guide

Yes it seems lately we are seeing exclusive TU pulls for new credit cards and EQ for CLI, CLOC and Personal Loans
