This. It won't hurt to ask but AMEX is notorious for not budging on stuff like this. You might be better off asking for an additional 5k MR points as a "token of goodwill" because they have been known to do this as a consolation prize.

You can give it an try but i wouldn't hold my breath, I am pretty sure you weren't eligible for the 50k offer since you are already an amex customer. Those are usually offered to new customer or are targeted, but it doesn't hurt to try worst thing they can say is no.
