@EverForwardyou will love the Discover Card. My $200 secured Discover just graduated in February 2020. I signed up for Discover in May 2019. I now have a $2000 limit. I have had zero issues with Discover and it was one of my best decisions. There is plenty of reading on this forum so time will go by fast. Good Luck.
This is the success story I had read!
@RSX Thank you for the insight in the secured vs unsecured card dilemma. What I'd really love is for my NFCU nRewards to graduate in a few months, then if my scores support, I'd consider apping for a More Rewards CC. That still might be too soon still but will see.
@Rebuild2019 I also heard from @M_Smart007 that you indeed had very good fortune with your Discover graduation and CLI. Congratulations, that's absolutely awesome and great feedback about Discover!! ![]()
I'm still thinking I may need to stage for my next goal cards... maybe open small checking/savings accounts, no CC, with BOA, or BVAA, just to seed the relationship thing, maybe some preapprovals will popup after awhile? It will be nice when they come to me for a change...

With the economic damage and fallout from COVID-19 going on, I don't expect preapprovals to be coming to all but the most pristine files. Just put your time in with NFCU and then maybe take a trip to a BBVA branch to check for prequals when you get a 670 EX8.
Congrats on your Discover Secured! I will be going for that card next month!
i agree with some of the other posters about having enough secured cards. I also considered that route so that I would be "in" with more companies, but here are a few reasons why I have personally decided not to take that route:
-The uncertainty of a timely graduation
-Low limits you might be stuck at (with certain creditors) after graduation
-Only a slight score increase difference from having 3 vs 6 cards while rebuilding (unless trying to water down lates)
-Having 6 low limit cards might actually keep you from getting higher limits, from what I understand (something about other creditors thinking nobody else trusts you with large amounts)
Hopefully I'll get in with discover as well! Congrats again
