PenFed Hard Inquiry

I was just approved for an auto loan refinance. They pulled a hard inquiry on Jan 20. I'm thinking to apply for a credit card. Would PenFed use the same hard inquiry? I spoke to an agent who wasn't sure. He intitially said that a 2nd hard inquiry will be pulled. Then I questioned it...so he said that it is possible they will use the same hard inquiry...he added there is no guarantee.

From your experience...did they pull a hard inquiry for each loan you applied for within a short period of time?
