PenFed Platinum Rewards app pending - DENIED

After I accidently did a HP for a CLI on my other PenFed card, didn't realize they were HP, and it's barely noticeable in their multiple legal jargon T&S you agree to. But oh well I know for next time to never initiate a CLI from them.

Anyways, since PenFed is known for reusing HP's, though after reading a bit it's now YMMV as sometimes they do in fact double HP. I figured I might as well app for another card and if they do another HP oh well. Plus I wanted the card to replace carrying two other cards.

I applied believing I had a very good chance because a few months back they basically offered me the card in one of the known "my offer" section and if I agreed I believe it's a done deal. I at the time wasn't interested, but now I am.

Was hoping it woudn't go into review, but guess I shouldn't be surprised that the previous offers doesn't stand. Also couldn't figure out how to get the offer back.

Do let us know what happens with the 2nd PenFed app - I am curious as I have not seen the card offer in "my offer" section either.

I do have a mailer for the PathFinder Rewards card which expires at the end of this month.

Wondering if the mailer is good even though the online account page no longer shows the offer....

You probably have seen some examples on here from time to time usually it's under the "Transfer Fund" pull down section on the right of PenFeds website it will be it's own section last I saw it. But yeah it's rare I feel, I heard they do it close to when you already were approved for something else and of course they really like your profile then. Some people have posted them on here showing multiple choice option selections you can choose from and it includes specific number SL and interest rates for you to view pretty much a sure thing.

Mailer I am unsure of I believe if it includes a specific interest rate that's a good sign as it means they targeted it to you. Besides that it might be general spam mail for marketing, so it's hard to tell from mail there's really no certainty to them. Plus PenFed is a question for how they approve people they have really no pattern it feels

Their preapproval mailers are solid but they are not 100%.

Online offers are refreshed quarterly.  If there was a measurable shift in your credit profile between say around late February and late May +/-  it is quite possible to get a preapproval offered with their April 1 refresh and either have it extended but with different terms as part of the July 1 refresh or to have it withdrawn altogether.

Re: PenFed Platinum Rewards app pending

Ended up getting a Denial. Stated reasons were

• Length of time accounts have been established

• Proportion of loan balances to loan amounts is too high

• Length of time revolving accounts have been established

• Too many inquiries last 12 months

Which is weird because below in the next page where it tells you how they calculate the Fico 9 credit score for myself it list exactly the same things as "Key factors that adversely affected your credit score" so I feel these "reasons" choose are not actually it.
