I joined yesterday and applied tonight for the defender card and went pending. I never saw a place for my DD214. Am I supposed to fax that in to someone?

I thought it was only for active military and those honorably discharged?

It does state it is only for active duty and honorably discharged however; when I applied, I noticed there was no verification process nor did they ever ask for my DD214. I guess they use the honor system.

They do not verify this for whatever reason.. I wouldn't suggest someone not in the militiary or in the past try to do this.. People have made mistakes and got it PC'ed though from applying for it in the past.

I got my PenFed Defender card and app'd over the phone, they never asked for my DD214, they just asked me if I was active, retired or prior military service and the date of my discharge. I believe they also asked if it was honorable discharge, but can't remember 100%.

Hello all!!

I opened my Penfed acct this morning with $10. As soon as the acct was opened I applied for the PenFed Defender Visa Signature and the status went to loan agent review.

After a few hours of waiting I called in and spoke to a very nice rep who said he would get a decision right away. He put me on hold and came back in a few mins with a $500 CL approval after I answered a few questions. I was shocked because all the forums say your fico needs to be pretty high. My scores are EQ 635  TU 590  EXP 590 due to two charge-offs that are about to drop off.

I wasn't even looking to be aprroved for any amount but figured I would try since they had already done a HP on me when I opened the savings acct. Thanks for all the info floating around here as I wouldn't have even tried if it wasn't for this forum!!

Joining the 700 club is my goal for this year!!

Congratz on getting your Defender card!

I just received mine early this month of Jan 2017.

Started with Pen Fed in July 2016 with just the Promise card.

But as a Veteran, I terribly wanted the Defender card.

Consider waiting six months, and apply for a Credit Line increase, and you should receive it.

Myself, I am waiting until Jan 2018 before I apply for a CLI, as I am acquiring other cards.
