PenFed or Navy Fed? CC.

If your among the few whom have read my previous posts about looking to add one more Credit card to my portfolio after getting approved for 3 cards (BCP, PRG, Discover IT), Ive wondered what other card I could add that would be a MC or Visa. After adding one more card, I want to go gardening (Learned that term hereSmiley Wink for 2 years, or at least I will not feel the need for another CC. After coming up with blanks with the major banks and coming across the Credit Union thread, and learning i did not have to be in the military to joing penfed or NFCU, ive decieded id like to join one of these CU's.

PenFed's Power cash rewards (2% SWEEEET!) or the Navy FCU Cash rewards (or even Platinum) with no fees (Im dreaming right? No cash advance fee???)

Well anyway, what im looking for is a bank willing to give generous CL or SL with generous CLI's. Also, how do you join and apply? Tell me about the process...? I'd like to Join, apply, and hopfully get approved before months end. Smiley Very Happy

my scores right now are TU: 761, 0 Inq; EX: 723, 7 Inq; EQ743 3 Inq.

I'd prefer pulls from TU or Eq, if possible.

I'm loving these forums! TYVM!

Re: PenFed or Navy Fed? CC.

I have several PenFed products, and I would vouch for them as a quality lender.  I'm not personally familiar with Navy, but I've heard people rave about them too.  Realistically?  It probably doesn't matter a great deal; both are probably pretty good.  Just choose the better product(s).  By the way, PenFed has a comparable product to Navy's Platinum.  The PenFed Promise is also a no-fee card.

Joining PenFed is pretty simple.  The membership application walks you through making the necessary donation if you don't qualify in other ways.  When I joined, I did the membership and credit application all together in a span of a few minutes (if I remember correctly).

Both are outstanding. Two of my daily drivers. If you don't qualify for NFCU, join PenFed.   Great CU's! Good luck!

If you are talking about the navy league way, nfcu no longer accepts that.

I think nfcu usually gives higher SL, and they pull TU for membership.
Last app 1/2/2017.
In the garden until at least 6/2/2017.

PenFed has given me more for CC, but both of them have been good to have. Easy to work with and friendly.
Navy tends to approve people with lower scores, but yours look fine. I don't think you could go wrong with either

Both great, ill just add, in my own experience, if you have a lower income Navy seems to help out more in terms of cc limits. Both seem to have wonderful service but to see people go from 1k sl to 20k in a single leap, colours even Superman jellySmiley Wink

This is awesome, I make about 29k a year. Love the cli leaps! Puts AmEx to shame, whom i like for the 3x cli's.

I applyed for the PenFed card, hopfully ill get it, but their reviewing the application. Is there a number i can contact to check in and see how its going tomorrow?

One more question: the hard pull they did on my report is good for ninty days, so if i apply for another CC, they will use the same report?

And how do the CLI's work? How long should i wait for one if approved?

Thanks! ☺😀

Re: PenFed or Navy Fed? CC.

Could be 90 days, a lot of people have reported getting another HP after 30 days lately. Always best to call in when applying for something else to ask if the same HP can be used. No guarantee it will be, but you'd have much better odds of it happening.
CLIs, most try for one right around 90 days after approval (trying to use same HP). They do give quarterly pre-approvals that you could a CLI with a SP.
