Long time lurker, first time poster.
Okay— to start, I know why my app is pending, in retrospect, I brainfarted on timing, but I'm just wondering what the best course of action will be.
I currently have CSR ($33k) and CFU ($23k) as well as Amex Plat. FICO 820. (I also have a bunch of other cards I opened when I was younger to build credit). Average age of accounts is 9.5 years.
I've been kind of operating as loyalty tourist and under optimizing points on flights and hotel stays, but I like to charge everything and pay it all off.
I recently discovered Bilt's rent rewards, so I decided to commit to a hotel and airline partner that can utilize points from their transfer market as well as drop the Amex Platinum for the Gold to better utilize on groceries.
In the last week I applied for both the Bilt Mastercard and the Gold and was approved for both, no surprises.
Yesterday — and this is where I made the mistake — I applied for United Infinite to as I have some flights coming up and that was going to be my preferred partner. Yes I know, apply for Chase first, but I didn't think I would be flagged for 5/24 (haven't applied for a card in over 2 years) or 2/30 (given none of the others were Chase cards).
My application is pending but with the dreaded 7-10 days.
My Q is this: Should I call Recon now and proactively tell my story, maybe suggest some redstribution of my existing Chase cards, or simply wait for the likely denial given how many new accounts I've opened recently and then call them?
My followup Q is: Does my strong history circumvent the obvious risk the system sees in my recent behavior?
Quick update:
Was approved this morning, with some automatic reallocation and an additional $10k in credit. 7-10 days does not always mean denial.

congrats, very nice extra CL from Chase!!
yeah, unless you're told up front it's a denial, I think the optimal strategy right now is to wait to see if an automatic approval comes 1-3 days later, and if you don't get that automatic approval, then move to recon to see if you can be approved through them

Congratulations on your approval!
