I currently have a credit card with a SL of 10,000 always PIF. Had it for a year. Trying to get more available credit. Better to CLI or app a new one?
Thanks!

I went for the new cards until I had the maximum allowed. My first one was only about a month old when I went for an additional card. I was approved. BUT I am a card collector so what worked for me may not work for you. Since my cards are no AF fee cards I went for additionals. My oldest Pen Fed Card is about 8 months old now. I also went for a CLI on my original card that was approved too. At this point I am not going to ask Pen Fed for any more cards I think I am at the max anyway as stated above and I am not going to ask them for a CLI either..
Thanks
Mark
The reason I am asking is I just got a personal loan with them and figured they use the same inquiry. I just saw they only pulled EX.... So that throws a monkey wrench in my plan. Do you think they reuse the EX pull or do a new EQ for card/CLI?

I just checked my 3 CR's, no inquries from them on me at all on EX or TU.
I found 2 inquries from them on my EQ
Inquriy 6/11/2021 which was for my first and second card issued about 3 weeks apart.
Inquiry 9/23/2021 I am not sure if that was for a new card or a CLI as those are the only two inquries I have from them, both on EQ
I live in Florida if that helps, they may use another agency for other states, I do not know but I doubt it.
It looks like they pull EQ for CC's. I have no idea about loans with them.
Let me know if you have any other questions
Thanks
Mark

Hi @Anonymous ,
They would probably not use the EX pull for a Credit Card.
Anything I have done with them has been EQ.
You would have to decide if you want more credit on your current card,
or look at their other cards and see if you could utilize one of those ..(Also a possible sign up bonus)
Then again, if you are concerned about a new card reporting, or a ding to your average age of all ..
Maybe an Increase might be the better route to go?
Good luck on whatever you decide![]()

Penfed has been pulling Ex on loans recently. They will pull Equifax for credit cards or cli requests.
Yeah, I haven't heard of them using anything but Eq9 for credit cards.
I got a loan from them a while back but I don't remembe what they pulled for that.
When app'ing for credit cards, it's not either/or, it's yes, yes, yes. Keep asking until the well runs dry because they will do all those on the same pull. Loans are separate, I'm pretty sure, even if the pull from the same place, it's a different department and will do their own pull. With the cards, ask for what you want most first. Then after that is approved, ask for anything else you might want while you can get it on the same pull.
