Penfed Platinum Rewards Question

Going to apply for this in the next few days. Not currently a member of PenFed, should I sign-up for a checking account beforehand with a small starting balance? Does that even matter? It looks like it lets me app for it without being a member to start.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Penfed Platinum Rewards Question

You have to be a member to get any of heir products... that is how a credit union works...
NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

I realize that.  But, it appears you can apply and then join after.  Seems a little odd to me.  Thus, the question.

Re: Penfed Platinum Rewards Question

Op first apply for membership. You will fund your savings account at that point.

If you want to opening a checking account with them, you can but a checking account is not required to apply and be approved for their credit products.
