Penfed recon?

Penfed is absolutely out of their mind. I've never in my life experience anything quite like the last 3 days from any Financial Instruction. I have an 788 Fico 8 an 806 Fico 9 been on bureau for 24 yrs with AAOA 8yrs 6months with 0% Utilization and retired military and government job over 250k income. Before Penfed 0 inquiries(Now 2). I was approved for New Car Auto lowest rate they offer easy. I decided to app for the PCR card was turned down so of course I was shocked I reconned was turned down again. The reasoning was I closed my other credit card I explained due to a divorce it was the best decision for me. In what day does an sub 800 doesn't qualify the $1 at the highest rate(not that I would accept that anyway) Wow just wow! I knew I shouldve just stuck with USAA where I've been a member 24yrs.

@LionHeart78 Sorry about the denial. I know it can feel insulting to be turned down for credit but try not to take it personally. Every FI has its quirks especially credit unions.

Are you aware of Navy FCU? You mentioned USAA so you may be able to get in with Navy via military affiliation.

Did you receive a survey email after the recon from PenFed? Some have had luck getting decisions overturned via the survey.
