Planning a spree

Hi MyFico Forums,

Happy to be here. Thanks for all the knowledge you've given me on my credit building journey. I am almost done gardening, but I made some slight blunders. Earlier this year I went rate shopping with a local credit union. This cost me an EX inquiry. I also opened a NFCU secured which cost me a TU inquiry. Both seem like they were stupid mistakes. The secured hasn't reported to the bureaus yet.

I am planning a massive spree in the near future. I want WF Attune, WF Signify, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Preferred, Capital One Venture, Capital One Spark Cash, and USAA Eagle/NFCU Flagship, if possible. Is this a completely unrealistic spree? If not, what should the timing look like? Considering I will have a new account on my report soon, will I have to wait six months? In six months, I will be 1/24 EX, 1/24 TU, and 0/24 EQ.

Overall profile is as follows:

Score will be at least 720 at each bureau

Amex 2,000 CL (Opened 02/24)

Chase 3,000 CL (Opened 08/24)

M&T 1,000 CL (Opened 06/24)

NFCU 200 CL (Opened 01/24)

I will be AZEO with under 9% util within the next two statements.

Capone $200 (Opened 08/23, closed 09/23)

Discover $1000 (Opened 12/23, closed 12/23)

Amex (Opened 03/24, closed 02/26)

NFCU SSL $1000

This will be under 29% util next statement and can easily be brought to under 9% for optimization.

Zero baddies.

Income is 25K, but household income will be ~$400K in a few statements.

Does it make sense to grow the cls for a bit? Chase and Amex should be easy.

If I do the spree, I'm thinking Wells first then Chase then Capone then USAA/NFCU. I have good relationships (deposit, investments, etc.) with Chase and Wells.

Is my thinking flawed? Any suggestions? Thank you very much.

Re: Planning a spree

Oh and NFCU internal should be good. DD on checking, savings, decent balances, plus secured card and loan. I am a full USAA memeber with an auto policy.

Re: Planning a spree

What's the pre approvals (soft pulls) telling you?  Let them be your guide.  Your probably going to have to pick, one per issuer.  Cap 1 pulls from all 3 bureaus but are inquiry sensitive.  Chase is 5/24.  Wells, who knows, they can be tough.  NFCU, I'm not familiar with.  Your going to have to pick your poison here.  Doubt you can fit even 1 per issuer in.   Look up the rules on mulitples (even w/ business) with any issuer if you go that route.

BofA: Citi:US Bank:Chase:Aven:RH:

Spend: Less than 10k per year organic (frugal). MS varies, can be more significant.

(Sept of 26) Scorecard: Clean, Thick, Mature (Always PIF)

HP's: EQ 2/6, 2/12, 6/24 | TU 1/6, 3/12, 5/24 | EX 0/6, 2/12, 8/24

New Accounts: 3/6, 7/12, 10/24

Re: Planning a spree

Love your previous post. Capone is a go on the Venture. No go on the Spark Cash. I assumed one personal one business could slide. WF and Chase aren't preapproving, but I just opted back into prescreened offers. CK likes my Chase odds, but dislikes my WF odds. Will read how sensitive each issuer is. Thanks.

Edit: Capone has a firm one card per six months. This applies to personal and business. Chase does two cards in 30 days. Wells has a six month rule, but this only applies to personal cards.

Re: Planning a spree

Was the NFCU secured your only option?

You've got a 1.5k average limit with at least one secured card. Step 1 I'd get anything secured to graduate. If that wasn't secured, I'd still suggest getting two CLIs from Navy and hopefully AmEx before going on the bender you're talking about.

NFCU Flagship (Daily Driver) | USAA Rewards (1999 Hooptie)

AmEx BCP (Groceries) | Aven Rewards (Groceries) | Chase Prime (Amazon) | Citi Custom Cash (Dining) | Elan MCP (Utilities)

EX(F8) 780 | EQ(F8) 802 | TU(F8) 796 | EQ(BC8) 810 | EX(10T) 782

Re: Planning a spree

Yes. I didn't need it, but I figured 3/91 meant I should start up NFCU with secured card. Will garden some more to get average CL much higher.

Re: Planning a spree

I'd apply for those cards over the course of 2-3 years. Some people might be more aggressive though. I'd also keep your options open. There's no telling what these offers will look like months from now, or what else will be available.

Re: Planning a spree

Figured I'd pull the trigger on the USAA

Waiting 6-12 months for next leg(s) of spree
