Pre-Approved for secured card and denied...

I received the "Congratulations! We think you'll like this prequalified offer!" from Capital One for a secured card. I applied for the card and I was denied. What gives?

First, welcome here. Call 'em and find out ... work your mojo and don't accept a "no" ... ask them what you'll need to do to get into Credit Steps, too.

That happen to me once... I called and found that it was because I had an alert placed on my Experian or Equifax.. (which ever one they use) file and need to have it removed .. Once I did that I was approved...

Ah. I think there may be an alert on my Equifax report. I haven't been able to log in online or buy that report online for quite some time and I'm thinking they used Equifax. I can't even dispute anything on that report. The hard pull didn't show up on any reports since last night. Hmmm. Thank you devineer1
