I was curious about any pre-qual's out there so I tried CITI, no luck. Went to Chase's site said I had two pre-qual offers (see image below) I was pretty excited. Currently have a FICO of 735. I curretly have three AMEX cards SPG, Blue Preferred & Blue Cash. I've been looking between the AMEX Platinum or the Chase Sapphire Reserve, I figured If I go with AMEX I can convert my SPG status to gold + other benefits.
But Chase is tempting since I have a pre-qual. And I see the difference between Chase Reserve & Preffered is the first advantage of the Preferred is the most obvious: It carries a significantly lower annual fee. While the Sapphire Reserve costs $450 per year, the Preferred card costs $95 per year — and this fee’s waived for the first 12 months. The Sapphire Reserve offers a $300 annual travel credit, which effectively lowers the cost to just $150 per year — a $55 premium over the Sapphire Preferred. I'll def be spending at least $300 on travel in a year anyway, it could be worth paying more for the Reserve.
This is all after from being in the dumps with 550 credit 3.5 years ago with crappy history and having collections from chase and citi in the past!
Congratulations!
