Pre-approved Discover It Secured Card Application

I applied after seeing I was pre-approved on Sunday Nov. 5. I passed the credit check and then it asked for my banking info. I wasn’t required to wait for test deposits or log in to my mobile banking to verify my checking account. My $300 security deposit was taken out on Tuesday the 7th. Now I’m just waiting for it to become official with the ‘Congratulations! You have been approved for a Discover card!’ on the status page and or e-mail. No hard pull was done maybe because they still have a credit report on file after I was denied for too many inquiries. No baddies on my report but lots of inquiries. 18 on Ex, 11 on TU, 20 on Eq. I decided to just get in with Discover through the secured card. Too many new accounts in a short period of time. 5 new accounts in October alone. 8 total since July. I definitely need to garden after I get this Discover card. Fico scores Ex 690, TU none available yet. Average age of accounts is 1 month. Need at least 6 months for TU to generate a score. Eq 705. Both Eq and Ex have 1 account at least 10 years old which helped my score. TU was completely blank at one point in July. Yeah so I’m just waiting for Discover to verify they got my deposit.

That was my strategy for the Discover IT, though for slightly different reasons. Started building credit 1.5 years ago. Applied for the Discover IT in May '16, denied for limited credit. Opened a Cap1 account same month, but not until I had accumulated 3 HPs (Discover=Nope, Chase=Nope, Cap1=Yep). April 17', 11 months later, I decided that I would just go the Discover secured route to get in the door and not fart around with applying/being denied again/having to call recon. Had my card unsecure less than a week ago, check in the mail, and I now have a $4K limit.

Should confirm deposit soon and the wheels will begin turning. Good luck on unsecuring!

Yeah i did the same thing. Matter of fact i think its a good way to get in with a decent cl if you can afford to put a lot down

Can you add funds to the secured card after acceptance?

Yeah the even better part you can increase your cl just by adding money to your secured card. I think its the best out there has down. Plus you get money back for spending

Hey guys. Just a quick update. I applied November 5th. Security deposit withdrawn on the 7th. I received the card on the 15th. Only a 10 day process for me. I was pre-approved on their website so I’m not sure how long it takes for someone who just cold apps. Peace.
