Hello. My BK7 was discharged march 2018. Citi was not included as I have never had a Citi card before. I have recently tried a few times to pre qualify with them but am always told no but I can still apply.
What are my chances of getting approved if I cold app with the over 7 year old BK reporting on me? Has any one had any success with approval with them even with no pre-qualification? With BK7 still reporting? Thank you.
Citi is not BK-friendly, at least not for the core cards, even if Citi was not IIB. Citi Retail is more forgiving, and will approve even with BK reporting.
Why do you keep mentioning "over 7 year old" Chapter 7 as if 7 years is a thing? A 7 stays on your report for 10 years. While the effect of a BK reporting might lessen over time, you seem to think that 7 years is a Chapter 7 milestone.
I've heard Citi approving cards with BK at least 7 years from the filing date. You will need to have a clean payment pattern, low utilization, no recent apps/approvals in the last year.

That might be the case but it was before the 2022 Environmental Crisis. Citi is on the edge of bankruptcy itself. They will not issue products to people that have a history of bringing other people down. You have to show that you will make them money or at least make it look realistic for profit and they end up flat. Citi will not usually approve anyone with a BK showing anymore. I had to fight across 5 applications for a Custom Cash card only because they were concerned I would run to another country.
