So I got the letter in mail that i was denied based on delinquent item on report (collection from 7 years ago that should be falling off soon ) + credit obligations are too high to meet approval guidelines....
Overall utilization is 54% and many of the cards i have are almost maxed out... Do you all think its worth a call to recon line to see if I could get approved (even for small credit line) or should I leave it alone & apply again in a few months after I pay a little down on some of my cards and wait for this collection to fall off which should happen within the next few weeks?
I read on one of the posts here that someone who had high utilzation rate called and was approved after getting denied with a similar history so not sure if its worth a shot or not.... Only reason I applied is I have been getting pre-approval offers in mail for months & also was pre-qualified online to apply for this and several other citi cards.
thanks for any input!

IMHO, I really think you should not recon, especially if it is a HP. You should apply again when your individual cards that are almost maxed out are below 29%.
GL to you.
I'm going to be honest, I don't think it's a good thought to recon, especially if a lot of your cards are maxed out...
Sorry to hear about the denial. It is your utilization that killed you more so than the old 7 year old baddie.. Work on paying down the utilitaion first before seeking more credit.
