Utilization is one of the reason why i want another card, paying for it is no problem but with a credit limit of $1000 and gorcery and general expense is 800-900 ish, i would have to pay for the account twice during the money to keep utilization low.
I started with a $300 SL on my first card, so I fully understand how much of a pain a tiny limit can be. I ended up paying off my card multiple times a month, which Cap1 doesn't seem to mind.
To get out of that trap, I focused on lenders who are known to be friendly to new files, and who are known for giving out high limits. Immediately after Chase rejected me, I applied for a card from Navy Fed. With just 6 months of personal credit history, they gave me an $8K+ SL, and 9 months later it was over $24K. Navy is definitely friendly to AUs. With 9 months of personal credit history, I got an FNBO Evergreen, with a limit just below $4K. While there have been reports of CLDs from FNBO lately, they have historically been fairly friendly to new files, and their prequal is pretty reliable and gives a SL.
No one in my family is millitary so that is a no go for me
Did you actually receive the rejection letter? It sounds like you did, but I was unsure. If I understood correctly, they state their reasoning as "unable to verify identity" and yet, when you called them after receiving the letter, they did not give you any options to actually try "proving" your identity?
I have been through the same issue with Synchrony. As mentioned above, you should check your LexisNexis Consumer Report. I see that you have already checked with the 3 major credit bureaus, but it is important that you at least check with LN, if not more from other secondary companies like ARS and Innovis. I learned my lesson the hard way recently.
You just got your 1st card. Quicksilver is a good card, but like mentioned above, it may be a bucketed card, which means it has virtually no room for further growth in its credit limit. I would concentrate all your spending on this 1 card for now, at least 6 months if not more. In the meantime, you can still use your VISA debit card at Costco. Or if you are willing, you can buy Costco Shop card online with your QS first beforehand and use that at the register.
Since you only have 1 card, I would leave a very tiny amount report every month, while making necessary payments early before the statement end date, so that you can free up more credit for your monthly spending needs. Go over your expenses and see where you are spending the most, and determine the most important categories to you, so that you know exactly what kind of rewards cards will actually become useful to you instead of just applying for anything that "looks good at first glance."
Yes. I initally received a letter tell me to call to verify my information, i did so and they say they will send me a reply in a few days, then i actually receive the letter that say they cannot verify my information. I do not have visa debit card at all, all my debit card is mastercard, and of course quick silver is master card too. I no longer have access to the costco visa card as AU as the owner passed away. I already purcahse $200 worth of costco cash card for the use of April. 99% of the spending is gorcey and costco, that why i choose AAA card. My next choice would be Venmo, usbank cash+ or Elan cash max.
