Rejected from Amex twice - Got mail offer

ive been rejected from Amex twice because of my profile history, but today they sent me a mail offer for blue amex everyday welcome back letter. I wanna bite, but i dont want to get rejected a third time. I havent checked up on my fico score for all 3 but my TU is at 741. But thats because of a $2000 balance carry. Im paying it off before my next statement so it should jump back to where i was before (761) and should increase slightly.

I have a lot of inqs. TU 18 / EQ 14. Some should drop around March / April.

What are my chances on getting in with them this time around? Offer ends on 3/21/2017

First off more info on the specific reasons in the denial would be helpful.  There's more than just your "profile history" when you get a denial.

Second, go here and get your EX score since AMEX is 99.9999% EX only puller. https://www.creditscorecard.com/registration

3rd why do you want an AMEX?

Re: Rejected from Amex twice - Got mail offer

My denial is because of too many inquires in general, but in this past year ive only had 5 (according to the link you suggested). But as a whole with EX, there is alot. +15.  Last i apped with amex was last april 2016.

What's the score you got from the link?

What card are they pushing?  Charge / Revolver?  Specific APR?

Amex pre-quals are pretty solid. If your EX score hasn't changed much in the last month, you're almost certain to get the card.

One suggestion, if you're after a certain bonus (50k MR, $250 cash back, etc), I suggest you go to NerdWallet and get your Prequal there. I got a nice bump on the bonus on both cards.

Good luck!

With these stats and nothing like a BK you should be good for any AMEX unless they dinged you for lack of credit history or something along those lines.  Either use the other person's post about NW or go incognito and you should be able to max out the bonus.  AFAIK right now the best on the BCE/P is the $250 for 1K spend.  There might be something slightly different on the ED/P or the charge options.

This should also score you a Disco if you're interested in the double rewards for the first 12 statements.

If you're getting pre-quals you should be good. Amex pre-quals are pretty solid. Let us know if you app and how it goes!

I'm going to wait until my next statement closes and my score updates just to be on the safe side. But would my high inq effect me though? I have a ton. But in the last 12 months I've only app'd a couple time. Do they only look through a certain amount of months and not as a whole?

Re: Rejected from Amex twice - Got mail offer

They're not as sensitive to inq's but, more interested in the overall profile.  People get denied for low/no inq's, high/low scores, and a variety of other reasons.  Based on the info here though in your thread it seems they like what they see in your profile and want you to become a member.  Waiting or no waiting you're bound to get an approval.
