Requesting CLI after marriage (triple income)

I have a question I’m hoping someone can shine some light on. I’ve been helping my Mother in law with her credit rebuild since her divorce 4 years ago. Her ex had built up 5 figure debt on credit cards in her name and she closed all her cards and paid them off without realizing the ramifications. I’ve since helped her re-establish credit with Capital One and AMEX. Her Capital One card has a CL of $4k and AMEX has $10k (which is also the SL, opened 5 months ago).

She has moved in with her fiancé and is getting married in 2 days. We discussed asking for credit line increases on her cards and used their new combined income. Increase from $45k to $125k. When we requested the increases online she received the 7-10 day messages online.

What should she expect with such an income increase being reported? Should she call to say she got the message and she wanted to verify the income change didn’t spook them?

Awwwww, this story warms my heart! Congrats to your Mother-in-law on the wedding tomorrow!

I'm no expert but personally I'd just call. Cap 1 CS is meh, but AMEX is great. Don't call about the income change, just let them tell her why she got the 7-10 day message. If they need additional documentation, they will let her know.
Nice AMEX SL. She's well on the road to recovery thanks to you!
Good luck!

Congrats to the MIL and getting married! Must be a hectic and stressful. I would ask for 3x CLI but be prepared to may only get 2X. The increase in income is definitely a plus but that also increases exposure and stability is important but as always, YMMV.

For AMEX we asked for an increase from $10k to $20k and got the 7-10 day message. Maybe tonight I will have her call AMEX to see what's going on with the request. If they deny it, how long does she have to wait to request again?

Re: Requesting CLI after marriage (triple income)

If the reason is credit based it's a 91 day wait. If she asked too soon there is no new waiting period.
